This Land is surrounded by Saltwater and the islands, and further inland there are freshwater creeks, billabongs and waterfalls. Around Country there are all manner of diverse sea animals and wildlife, such as dugongs, crocodiles, fish, turtles, eels and many more critters. I spent half my time in this place as a child, going back and forth most weekends with my family as we bundled into the car and took off to Country. I would walk barefoot around Cardwell township, feeling the warm breeze on my skin as I played at the beach with my brothers and sisters.
