This artwork depicts a sleeping wayimu (woman) getting her rest and replenishing her spirit. As women we tend to give so much of ourself to others even when our cup is almost empty.
I painted this artwork as a reminder to practice self love and set boundaries to protect my spirit. It is a reminder to rest, spoil and love myself that way I do for others.
In the background there are waterholes and berries which represent replenishing and feeding our soul. There are mountains which represent adversity and rainbows which represent hope and light. The wayimu is painted with brushstrokes in various colours which represents her connection to Country and all living things. The halo represents her spirit and pure heart. The u shape on her abdomen is a symbol for human.
